On September 24, 2019 at Hudson Loft in Los Angeles, CSSM Director Eric Schelter participated in a panel discussion: ‘Rare Earth Elements: The Intersection of Science and Society’ with Gwen Bailey and Julie Michelle Klinger, moderated by the host of NPR Science Friday: Ira Flatow. The event was sponsored by the Science History Institute and was attended by 175 people. Adam J. Schwartz, the director of the U.S. Department of Energy’s Ames Laboratory in Iowa, also provided remarks. It was great to participate in this panel about the history and future of critical metals in society!
